Chinese New Year Community Celebration

Event Details

The Golden Dragon Museum is proud to host the community celebration to bring in the Year of the Dragon. Enjoy an evening of performances by the Bendigo Chinese Association Lion, Dragon and Plum Blossom Teams as well as Chinese food and drinks with family and friends.

Last year a highlight of the Chinese New Year Community celebrations was Yar Loong, the night dragon, who made a special appearance to roam amongst the crowds. This year he will not be alone. 'Loong' the heritage listed Imperial dragon will be making a ‘once in a lifetime’ appearance whilst being carried by invited outstanding citizens of the Bendigo community, who are all paying for the honour of parading the Imperial dragon.

All proceeds received from the carriers will see over $40,000 being donated to Bendigo Health.

The Year of the Dragon is considered to be a particularly auspicious year on the Chinese calendar so this will be a once in a life time experience!

Bring a chair or rug and remember to red to ward off any bad luck and bring happiness and prosperity to you, your family and your friends.
