City produces new Aged & Disability Services Guide

Thursday 10 May 2012

The City of Greater Bendigo has updated its guide to Aged and Disability Services to provide important information to clients receiving Home and Community Care (HACC) services.

City of Greater Bendigo Manager Aged and Disability Services Rod Flavell said the guide includes important information on the services provided by the HACC program and details the assessment process for people who need to access HACC services.

“This is a very important guide because the HACC program supports our municipality’s frail and elderly as well as young people with disabilities and their carers.  Importantly one of the main aims of the HACC program is to help those at risk of premature or inappropriate admission to long-term residential care.

“HACC clients are encouraged to become involved in the decision-making process for the services they receive and to participate in the service delivery to achieve their goals.

“The guide provides information about Food Services, Home Care, Personal Care and Respite Care, Planned Activity Groups and Property Maintenance services that are provided by the City of Greater Bendigo.

“In addition it also provides a summary of other services that are available to older people and those with a disability,” said Mr Flavell.

He said copies of the guide will be distributed to all existing and new clients.

“The guide is also available online from www.bendigo.vic.gov.au and from City of Greater Bendigo’s Customer Service Centre as well as the Commonwealth Carelink Centre in Queen Street, Bendigo,” he said.

Further information bout the HACC program is available online at www.bendigo.vic.gov.au/agedanddisabilityservices  or by phoning 5434 6411.
