The City of Greater Bendigo has provided $53.6 million in its budget to undertake a range of capital and major works projects and initiatives throughout the municipality during the 2012/2013 financial year.

City of Greater Bendigo Mayor Cr Alec Sandner said Council is very fortunate to have the capacity to maintain a large capital and major works program so it can continue to  invest in the future of the municipality.

“Greater Bendigo continues to experience strong growth and it is important for Council to continue to provide new infrastructure and undertake works to cater for our growing community.

“Major projects to undertaken in the coming 12 months include a major $6.5 million expansion of Bendigo Art Gallery and a $6.5 million redevelopment of Bendigo Library.    Council has been able to attract grants which will meet around half the construction costs of both the gallery and library projects.  A further $2 million has been allocated to complete the new Edwards Street Multi Storey car park facility.
