The Mandurang Community is expected to come out in force to celebrate the official opening of the new $699, 473 pavilion at the Mandurang Recreation Reserve by City of Greater Bendigo Mayor Cr Alec Sandner on Sunday February 5.
The new two level, accessible pavilion serves a range of local community groups and is a significant project for the City of Greater Bendigo, the local community and the reserve’s key user groups.
Cr Sandner said the project has been a fantastic partnership between the City of Greater Bendigo and the Mandurang community.
“Together we have built a new pavilion that features washroom facilities including an accessible toilet and shower facility, change rooms with a moveable wall to allow the area to be opened up for a range of indoor activities, office space, kitchen/canteen and social facilities, new scorers box and a viewing balcony.
“A new accessible public toilet for spectators and playground users has also been constructed as part of the project.
“The new pavilion has been designed with accessibility and sustainability in mind and includes a chair lift, wastewater treatment plant, water tank, ventilation systems and sustainable lighting.
“The new pavilion is a tremendous new asset for Mandurang that the community can be very proud of,” said Cr Sandner.
He said the City of Greater Bendigo has worked closely with all of the user groups to develop this important project.
“The key users include Emu Valley Cricket Association, Mandurang Cricket Club, Mandurang Recreation Reserve Committee of Management, Bendigo Junior Football League, Cycling and Athletics Clubs and Mandurang Fire Brigade however the pavilion will also be used by other groups and members of the community.
The project was funded by the City of Greater Bendigo along with a generous combined community contribution from the Mandurang Recreation Reserve Committee of Management, Mandurang Cricket Club, Strathfieldsaye and District community Enterprise, Electrical Resource Providers and Phillip Eddy and Associates.
Following the official opening the Mandurang Community will hold a Day on the Green at the reserve featuring live music, competitions, kids’ entertainment, food and wine. For more information on this event please contact Chris Garlick on
