Road works around new car park set to commence

Friday 25 May 2012

With work on the construction of the new Edward Street Multi Level car park nearing completion the City of Greater Bendigo is about to commence a series of associated road and footpath works in the vicinity of the new complex.

The works will include the construction of new footpaths, kerb and channel works, installation of street lighting, tree planting, the creation of linkages and road lane upgrades.

To allow the works to proceed King Street, between the Edward Street roundabout and the CVGT building, will be closed for a two week period from Sunday May 27 however access to the Target car park during this time will be maintained via Wills Street.

City of Greater Bendigo Director of City Futures Stan Liacos said the Edward Street Car Park project has reached an exciting stage.

“We are delighted to report that the project is on time and on budget and that the car park will open when the streetscape works have been completed.

“The new car park will provide short term and all day parking options for people who work in or visit the Bendigo CBD.

“The City has already received enquiries from a number of people who are interested in reserved parking at the new car park and we will be sending out confirmation letters in June.

“There will also be further road works to Queen Street and Edward Street over the next eight weeks,” said Mr Liacos.
