Superannuation scheme needs changing
The City of Greater Bendigo is hosting a community lunch to celebrate International Women’s Day at the La Trobe University Visual Arts Centre, 121 View Street on Thursday March 8, 2012 featuring guest speaker and current Victorian Senior of the Year recipient Dr Nouria Salehi PhD.
Dr Salehi will present a special talk on Supporting Women’s Economic Empowerment to local women at the luncheon.
Dr Nouria Salehi, an Afghani by birth, graduated from the University of Kabul in Biophysics and continues her research today at the Royal Melbourne Hospital’s nuclear medicine department. Nouria, a successful business woman and human rights activist is passionate about refugees and the rights of women in her country of birth.
In 2002 she founded the Afghan Australia Development Organisation to overcome massive disadvantage faced by Afghani women and girls. Training 1393 science teachers in Afghanistan is just one of the many achievements of the organisation.
