BENDIGO TOWN HALL TO BE TRANSFORMED INTO AUSTRALIA’S INVENTION AND INNOVATION HUB

The Bendigo Town Hall will be transformed on Friday September 2 into a hub for inventors and innovators for the Bendigo Inventor Awards Ceremony and Exhibition.

A FREE Public Exhibition will take place between 12 noon and 3pm showcasing the 2011 Awards finalists in the Main Hall, upstairs Reception Room and even the Town Hall basement.

This is your chance to get up close and personal with this year’s finalists, to see their innovations and hear their stories.

Awards Steering Committee member Cr Peter Cox is hoping the public will get behind the Awards and pop into the Town Hall during their lunch break to view the Exhibition.

“Come and talk to the inventors, ask them questions and find out how their invention works. And when you have chosen your favourite - which won’t be as easy as you think - cast your vote in the People’s Choice Award,” said Cr Cox.

The Exhibition is followed by the Awards Ceremony from 6.30pm to 9pm when special guest ABC TV’s New Inventors Show Judge Chris Russell will announce the winners of the Inventor of the Year, Innovator of the Year, Young Inventor of the Year, Technology Award and People’s Choice Award.

Chris Russell is a regular fixture on ABC TV’s New Inventors Show and has spent the past 30 years working all over the world on agricultural and engineering projects.

City of Greater Bendigo Mayor Cr Rod Fyffe is looking forward to casting his vote in the People’s Choice Awards and talking to the inventors.

“Last year’s Awards were an outstanding success. This year entries have come from across the State and a number from interstate. Some international applications were even received! I can’t wait to see what the Bendigo Inventor Awards has uncovered this year,” said Cr Fyffe.
