Superannuation scheme needs changing
The development of a new early learning children’s centre at the Marong Primary School in Leslie Street is progressing with the City of Greater Bendigo calling for tenders for the construction of the new facility.
City of Greater Bendigo Director of Community Wellbeing Pauline Gordon said architectural plans for the new centre have been developed and the City has advertised for contractors to undertake construction of the new building.
“This is a very exciting project for Marong which is one of Greater Bendigo’s growing areas.
“It’s also yet another example of Greater Bendigo’s commitment to being a child friendly city.
“When completed the new children’s centre will offer the Marong community a state of the art facility that features two classrooms for three and four year old pre-school programs, a Maternal and Child Health Service and the capacity for playgroups, other allied health services and extended care.
“The new facility will improve the link between the pre-school and primary school and provide young children in the Marong area with the best start to their education,” said Ms Gordon.
She said the City is aiming to award the building contract in September and expects construction will commence in October.
“We are working toward completing the new facility in time for the first school term in 2012,” Ms Gordon said.
