Bendigo Olive & Food Fiesta
Bendigo Food and Olive Fiesa 2010

Presented by Rotary Club of Bendigo South Inc.

The Fiesta will celebrate the role of the Bendigo Goldfields as the central focus of Victoria's emerging Olive Industry. Our warm, dry summers and cool winters mimic the famous Mediterranean climate and provide the basis for ideal growing conditions.

The Fiesta has a number of objectives including raising funds for the Rotary Club of Bendigo South Inc.

Our Festival will be a Cornish type using the theme "Welcome Back Cousin Jack" opening Wednesday March 17 - 2010.

Many Cornish activities are planned including local tours of Cornish Ancestory interest, Bardic Ceremony, Dressing of the Graves, Cornish Church Service, search out your Cornish Ancestor History and Displays, local shops window with history displays, Street Parade, Gala Fair, Locally made film, Flower Show, Art Show, Miniature Exhibition, Free Sunday Family Day and Cultural activities, Cycling Criterion, 1/2 Marathon, Deb Ball, Festival Idol, Trivia night, Astronomy viewing, Pet Parade, Local Garden Tour.

    The Australian Sheep & Wool Show provides not just animals but a great variety of general interest exhibits, including fashion clothing, fleece and yarn as well as woolcraft competition and demonstration. Also featuring food and wine, daily fashion parades (4 per day) as well as shearing and wool handling.

    The Victorian Teachers Games will attract up to 2000 state and private primary and secondary school teachers and support staff from across Victoria to Bendigo. Thirty different sports will be offered over three days of competition, with schools vying for the prestigious Education Minister's Cup.

    Bendigo Heritage Uncorked is an iconic moveable feast event. The winemakers of Bendigo create this unique wine festival each year to showcase the best of Bendigo - Bendigo wine, superb food, local musicians and grand gold rush architecture.

    Kicking off with a free sampling of songs and performances at the Town Hall, and offering an exciting and diverse program of soloists, choirs, concerts and workshops, this 3-day community Festival celebrates singing in all its styles and shades. Whether you love to sing, or love to listen, you'll love the gorgeous voices that gather in Spring to fill the elegant streets of Bendigo with song.

    Cost: sessions from $15 and passes from $50

    Be part of the third annual celebration of turning on the lights on the 'Downtown Bendigo Christmas Tree'.

    Families are encouraged to bring a picnic and find a spot on the grass in Queen Victoria Gardens or over the creek in Rosalind Park.
