Free training to benefit community and not for profit groups

Local community and not for profit groups are again being offered a wonderful opportunity to enhance the knowledge and skills base of their organisation through a series of free training sessions.

The free training is being offered by the City of Greater Bendigo, the Regional Association of Neighbourhood and Community Houses (RANCH) and the Loddon Bendigo Rural Women's Network (LBRWN) as part of a commitment to assist local community and not for profit groups in the important work that they do.

The training sessions will commence on February 25 and will continue each month through until June. The sessions will cover a range of topics.

Residential facilities for older people

Along with the Positive Ageing Advisory Group, we have released a brochure Bendigo Residential Facilities, Retirement Villages and Community Care Programs for older people to make it easier to access information on residential care services.

The brochure has information and contact details for older residents who are considering down-sizing or need subsidised care facilities.

The brochure has being distributed to local care providers, seniors clubs and other interested groups. It is also available at our Customer Service Centre in Lyttleton Terrace, Bendigo.

If your group or organisation has not received the brochure and feel it could benefit your members or clients, please contact Community and Cultural Development on 5454 6464.

About the Positive Ageing Advisory Group

The Positive Ageing Strategy was adopted by Council in February 2011. As part of this strategy, the Positive Ageing Advisory Group was formed by community members and service providers to oversee the implementation of the strategy and give guidance to the City of Greater Bendigo on the issues affecting older people.
