Event Organisers

We have produced some Fact Sheets to assist people to organise their event.  These Fact Sheets cover topics such as transport, venues, hire equipment, catering and waste disposal.  However, our Fact Sheets are currently being updated. Please contact our Major Events Unit on 5434 6000 for advice or assistance with planning your event.

If you are an organiser of an upcoming event please complete the following food vendors register with details of ALL food vendors attending the event and return to the Environmental Health Unit at 15 Hopetoun Street Bendigo or email.

Temporary Food Events

It is estimated that two million people in Australia become sick with food poisoning each year. If you are intending to sell food to the public from a temporary food premises within the City of Greater Bendigo you must be aware of your responsibilities around registering and food handling. This information outlines your responsibilities when selling food from an event, temporary or mobile food premises. It is in your best interest and legal obligation to ensure the food you sell is safe and suitable.

Are you a Temporary or Mobile food vendor?

  • If you are a "Not for profit" group such as voluntary associations, community groups, charities, fundraising events and clubs: CLICK HERE

During the event Environmental Health Officers may inspect markets, events and festivals throughout the City of Greater Bendigo.

It is expected that all temporary food premises are set up to comply with the Temporary food premises guidelines for events and that the food sold to the public is safe and suitable for consumption.

If you do not comply with these requirements you will be instructed to cease trading and you could be issued with an on the spot fine.

 

Notification and Application forms for Temporary Food Events

  1. Community group to register a temporary food premise
  2. Community group to register a temporary food premise & notify a class 4
  3. Community group to register a mobile food premise
  4. Application to register a class 2 or 3 temporary food premise
  5. Application to register a class 2 or 3 mobile food premise
  6. Notification by a community group for a Class 4 temporary food premise 
  7. Notification of a Class 4 temporary food premises
  8. Notification by a community group for a Class 4 Mobile food premies
  9. Notification of a Class 4 mobile food premises

Statement of Trade (SOT)

  1. Statement of Trade for temporary food premises Food Act 1984 (Vic)
  2. Statement of Trade for mobile food premises Food Act 1984 (Vic)
  3. Statement of Trade for food vending machines Food Act 1984 (Vic)

You must lodge a statement of trade (SoT) in each council district where you will be operating. A copy of your SoT must also be given to your council so that it understands the extent of your operations, and can answer any questions asked by other councils about your registration or notification.

Please note: you risk a fine if you fail to lodge statements of trade within five (5) days of operation and fail to display your current valid registration certificate at the event.
