The City of Greater Bendigo is developing a Waste and Resource Management Strategy to guide how we will deal with our waste in future.
We are seeking input from the community to help inform this strategy.
We invite you to complete our resident waste survey or attend one of our listening posts.
Further information is available in the Waste and Resource Management Strategy November update or from our Waste and Resource Management Strategy page.
Household garbage is collected weekly and recycling is collected on a fortnightly basis. To find out when your garbage is collected, download the appropriate map below.
Your recycling will be collected on either week one or two.
The maps will indicate your week and the calendar can be used to find out the dates of your recycling collection.
Bins must be out ready for collection by 6am in the morning, weigh no more than 60kg and bin lids must be completely closed to ensure collection of recycling and garbage.
Garbage will be collected on all public holidays except Good Friday and Christmas Day. Collections due on Good Friday will be undertaken the following Saturday.
Collections due on Christmas Day will be collected on the closest Saturday (i.e. if Christmas falls on Monday or Tuesday the collection will occur on the previous Saturday. When Christmas falls on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday the collection will take place the following Saturday).
A permanent Detox your home drop-off facility is located at the Eaglehawk Eco Centre, Upper California Gully Road, Eaglehawk. Household and automotive batteries, automotive and cooking oils, paint, compact fluorescent light globes and tubes and barbeque gas bottles are accepted.
An annual detox your home drop-off day is held each year to allow residents to dispose of more harmful chemical products. Household clears, pesticides and weed killers, fuels, solvents, brake fluid and pool chemicals are some examples of harmful household chemicals. Please contact the City of Greater Bendigo details about the next collection day.
