Ironbark Gully Trail Concept Plan
Development of a new shared path trail along the Ironbark Gully Trail was first identified in the City’s 2006 Walking and Cycling Strategy. Development of the trail in this part of Greater Bendigo would provide significant opportunities for residents in terms of physical activity and recreation and active travel through Ironbark, Long Gully, North Bendigo and West Bendigo. The trail will improve access to quality public space in suburbs where there is currently a shortfall.
A new trail would provide significant opportunities physical activity, recreation and active travel through Ironbark, Long Gully, North Bendigo and Bendigo (West of the Bendigo City Centre) while improving equity of access to quality public space in suburbs where there is currently a deficit.
A concept plan has been prepared outlining the preferred alignment for the 3 kilometre primary trail, secondary trails and concepts for public space development including opportunities for focused, community-led development of public spaces at identified locations.
Any development of the Ironbark Trail is subject to Crown land management agreements being agreed to across the length of the trail and public space.
