Victorian Local Government Women's Charter

The Victorian Local Government Women’s Charter was created in 1997 recognising the need to increase female participation in key decision making forums, including local government. The Women’s Charter supports three driving principles of Gender Equity, Diversity and Active Citizenship. 72 of 79 Victorian local governments have become signatories to this Charter including the City of Greater Bendigo, demonstrating their commitment to improving the representation of women as elected representatives in Victorian local government.
