The City of Greater Bendigo’s annual Yo Arts – Young Artists project is designed to encourage and support emerging local talent.
Through the initiative young Greater Bendigo artists gain an opportunity to hone their skills, learn from professional artists and exhibit their work publicly.
Greater Bendigo Youth Council Mayor Jack Smith said Yo Arts is an exciting opportunity for young artists to explore local art galleries, meet with artists and participate in hands on workshops with professional artists.
“The participants were provided with mentoring and the art they have created will be available to view by everyone who travels along the Back Creek walking and cycling trail,” Mr Smith said.
“It’s been an exciting opportunity for the young artists and now they get to exhibit their work and receive public recognition for their skills and creativity.”
This is the sixth time the City has undertaken this initiative and all of the participants are to be congratulated for their commitment to the project, for following their creative vision and producing such excellent public art for all to admire and enjoy.
The YO Arts program is in line with the City’s Youth Strategy goals to provide innovative opportunities for young people to develop new skills by conducting creative arts workshops and life skills training.
