Agri-Zero webinar with Anika Molesworth to explore zero emissions pathways for agriculture

The City of Greater Bendigo through the Greater Bendigo Climate Collaboration is hosting a free, online webinar from 7pm to 9pm on Thursday March 23 featuring award-winning author, farmer and scientist Dr Anika Molesworth.

Greater Bendigo Mayor Cr Andrea Metcalf said this free, online event will explore the bigger impact of climate change and the pathway to zero-emissions for farmers and the agriculture sector across the Loddon Campaspe, Mallee and Grampians region.

“It’s an important opportunity to contribute to the future of agriculture which is highly exposed to the changing climate and which makes up approximately a quarter of the region’s carbon emissions,” Cr Metcalf said

“The webinar is especially relevant to anyone who works in farming or the agriculture sector and will be an opportunity to share challenges and find opportunities to reduce carbon emissions and help build a Zero Emissions Roadmap. By coming together, we can face these challenges together as a community.”

Farming through a drought can be a cruel challenge and for Dr Molesworth, the experience of living through a ten-year drought on her family’s farm was life changing.

Watching her home, family and community suffer ignited her concern about climate change as she wondered, "How are we going to feed a rapidly growing global population well, in a climate-challenged world?"

Dr. Molesworth has since gained a PhD in agriculture and environmental management to answer that question and will share her passion for climate action and building resilient rural communities and ecosystems on the night.
