Bendigo blooms with spring events campaign
The City of Greater Bendigo’s Bloom marketing and tourism campaign for spring returns with spectacular tulip displays taking centre stage in Rosalind Park and an exciting mix of online and in person experiences suitable for all ages.
Around 50,000 tulips have been planted to create a stunning splash of rainbow colours in Rosalind Park that will be in full bloom until mid-October, including a large patterned centrepiece that will only reveal its shape once the tulips bloom.
Those who cannot visit the displays in person can watch the popular Tulip Cam’s live online pictures from Rosalind Park which will show the tulips blooming in real-time.
Greater Bendigo City Council Mayor Cr Dr Jennifer Alden said spring was a special time in Greater Bendigo and Bloom celebrated the region’s seasonal offerings.
“Bloom is a wonderful way to showcase the vibrancy, natural beauty, unique experiences and attractions in our region that will entice regional Victorians to plan and enjoy a memorable stay here,” Cr Alden said.
“We know our community and people travelling from regional Victoria will love visiting the tulip displays. Those unable to visit due to restrictions can feel part of it by watching our Tulip Cam and joining our social media events.”
One of the first must-watch events will be a live Facebook tulip curator talk with a City Parks and Open Space staff member who will host a tulip tour from the Conservatory Gardens at 11am on Friday September 17.
Families during the school holidays will be able to enjoy a Bendigo Tulip Hunt, a new augmented reality experience where participants using a mobile phone app will be able to search for eight virtual tulips around the city centre’s iconic parks and gardens, including a newly-created secret garden. Once all the virtual tulips are collected, participants can go into a draw to win a Uniquely Bendigo hamper.
The City’s Summer in the Parks will also present a new Summer in the Parks 'Spring Edition' with several free events planned over the school holidays, including Tulip Tunes, Movies in the Parks and active kids’ activities, subject to COVID-safe requirements. A full program and booking details will be released shortly.
