Celebrate Eaglehawk Winter Festival in July at Canterbury Park
Celebrate Eaglehawk’s strong community spirit and support local businesses at a special Eaglehawk Winter Festival taking place on Saturday July 9 from 12.30pm to 7.30pm at Canterbury Park (near the oval and skate park).
The Eaglehawk Winter Festival has been developed by the City of Greater Bendigo in collaboration with local businesses and Eaglehawk community members to produce an exciting winter event.
This is a one-off winter festival funded as part of a Victorian Government outdoor activation grant.
City Manager Economic Development Ben Devanny said the festival was a great way to activate outdoor public spaces in winter and encourage residents from Eaglehawk and other suburbs to support local retailers.
“The Eaglehawk Winter Festival presents a great day and evening for residents to enjoy live music, roving entertainment, market stalls run by local traders, skate park activities and food trucks,” Mr Devanny said.
“Many shops are also planning to stay open longer on Saturday and offer specials for the day to encourage people to enjoy the festival and visit the high street while they are out and about.
“With so many football and netball games taking place during the day, the festival will be a great centrepiece for the day’s activities.
“The Eaglehawk Winter Festival is ideally located in Canterbury Park near the oval and skate park so players and families can enjoy the games and have fun at the festival which runs from 12.30pm to 7.30pm.
“Eaglehawk is well known for its strong and welcoming community spirit, and this a great opportunity to activate Canterbury Park and the High Street during winter so rug up, enjoy the festival and discover all that Eaglehawk and local businesses have to offer.”
Activities on the day include:
- Live music in Canterbury Park including popular local artists Sherri Parry (1.30pm to 3.30pm) and Chris DeAraugo (4.30pm to 6.30pm)
- Six food trucks
- Roving performers and entertainment
- A range of market stalls from local retailers and creatives at the festival in Canterbury Park
- Retailers on the High Street are hosting activities including panning for gold and local artist Steven Stanley will be painting a ‘live’ picture
