The City of Greater Bendigo has begun installing Christmas decorations to mark the arrival of the festive season.

Mayor Cr Margaret O’Rourke said the decorations would appear in various locations across the municipality to celebrate the holiday season.

“Christmas is such a special time of the year and the decorations help make our streets look festive. This year we have some new decorations for our communities which will brighten up our Christmas display,” Cr O’Rourke said.

To mark its tenth anniversary, the Christmas tree in Rosalind Park’s Piazza will have new additional decorations and wreaths will feature on heritage lamp posts.

New swag garlands and wreaths will adorn the Bendigo Visitor Centre and the City’s Lyttleton Terrace office. The Bendigo Town Hall will have a garland centrepiece.

In the Bendigo city centre, new hanging baubles will be on display at Hargreaves Mall and banners will be installed along Pall Mall. Baubles, pole wrappers and toppers will also feature across the city centre.

In Golden Square, pole toppers will decorate parking signs on High Street.

In Kangaroo Flat, a Christmas roof top scene will be placed on the Ultimate Tyre and Auto building at the corner of Camp Street and Calder Highway. Santa pole wraps and toppers will be installed along High Street.

In Eaglehawk, banners will be installed on power poles along the median strip on Eaglehawk Road and pole toppers will feature on parking signs along High Street and Victoria Street.

A Christmas wreath will feature on the Eaglehawk Town Hall.

In Axedale, a new decorated Christmas tree will be placed on the corner of McIvor Highway and Mitchell Street.

In Heathcote, a new Christmas scene featuring Santa Claus with his sleigh and a reindeer will be installed along the roof at the Heathcote Visitor Information Centre on High Street. New power pole decorations will appear along the Northern Highway.

In Elmore, new power pole decorations will feature along the main street while banners and pole toppers will be installed on the Midland Highway.
