Community invited to be part of Peter Krenz Centre Redevelopment Committee

Leave feedback

The City of Greater Bendigo is inviting expressions of interest from residents who are interested in helping to shape the future of Eaglehawk’s Peter Krenz Centre.

City of Greater Bendigo Active and Healthy Lifestyles Manager Lincoln Fitzgerald said the City is exploring redevelopment options for the Centre and is seeking up to eight community representatives to help guide what the options should include.

“The Peter Krenz Centre is an important community hub and the community representatives will play a key role in building an understanding of what the key issues and opportunities are, what the vision and guiding principles for any redevelopment should be and how any redevelopment options could support community needs,” Mr Fitzgerald said.

“The project presents an opportunity to re-invigorate the Centre so it can support a diverse range of community health and wellbeing, social connectivity and lifelong learning needs.

“The Peter Krenz Centre also has a role to play in supporting the activation of the broader Canterbury Park precinct and this is a great opportunity for interested residents to have input into the future of one of Eaglehawk’s most important community spaces.

The Centre currently offers a range of aquatic and non-aquatic services, including a 50 metre indoor pool, toddler pool, spa and steam room, reception, office and merchandise area, café, a stadium featuring a multi-purpose court and some squash courts, a gym, group fitness room, child care room, kitchen and several meeting spaces.  However, the Centre has a disjointed and inefficient layout that is contributing to poor visitor experiences, increased staffing costs and increased energy costs.

Expressions of interest close at 5pm on Wednesday July 1, 2020.  For further information or to  submit an expression of interest visit https://www.bendigo.vic.gov.au/pkc
