Work to demolish the now closed Kangaroo Flat Swimming Pool at Dower Park is set to commence this week following the recent opening of the Gurri Wanyarra Wellbeing Centre.

City of Greater Bendigo Active and Healthy Lifestyles Manager Lincoln Fitzgerald said all salvageable items have already been removed from the pool.

“Some equipment has been relocated to other pools in Greater Bendigo while other equipment is being stored at the City’s depot for future use,” Mr Fitzgerald said.

“All buildings will be demolished and removed from the site.  This will be followed by the large task of demolishing the pools.

“The concrete shell of the pools will be removed and the site backfilled and compacted to allow for future use.

“Future use of the site will be in line with the Dower Park Master Plan 2015 and could include a possible third lawn bowls green, new netball/tennis courts and cricket nets.”

The demolition works are expected to be completed by mid-December.
