Mayor Cr Margaret O’Rourke said she was looking forward to the Gurri Wanyarra Wellbeing Centre opening its doors.

“An amazing weekend of activities has been planned to celebrate the completion of the biggest project ever undertaken by the City of Greater Bendigo and I look forward to seeing people of all ages coming together to enjoy this fantastic new facility,” Cr O’Rourke said.

“The final stages of preparing the centre are underway. Four semi-trailer loads of gym equipment will arrive this weekend, ready to be unloaded and assembled in the coming weeks. The final elements of the splash play equipment are being installed and landscaping works are progressing well.

“The water in the pools is balanced and ready for swimming lessons, lap swimming, aqua play and rehabilitation, and the changing places accessible change rooms and toilets are installed.

“Staff members will be inducted from next week, learning the ropes of the new centre before it opens and helping new members prepare their exercise programs so they are ready to go when the doors open.

“The countdown is on to opening this wonderful new facility that will provide our residents with a range of ways that they can look after their health and wellbeing, as well as have heaps of fun!”
