Speed limit on Mandurang and Sedgwick Roads to be lowered to 80km
The speed limit on a 10 km stretch of Mandurang Road and Sedgwick Road from Spring Gully to Sedgwick, will be permanently reduced from 100km/h to 80km/h in coming weeks.
City of Greater Bendigo Engineering Manager Brett Martini said the City had submitted a proposal to the Department of Transport in September 2019, to have the speed limit reduced on the road based on its accident history, road alignment and increasing developments in the area.
“We have now received approval from the Department of Transport to proceed with the speed limit reduction,” Mr Martini said.
“The speed limit reduction is in line with the recent announcement from Mount Alexander Shire that it will reduce the speed limit to 80km/h on the extension of the road through Sutton Grange.
“The new speed limit will apply once the new speed signs have been put in place and this is expected to happen in the next two weeks.
“We ask residents to observe the new speed limit and to take care when driving in the area.
“The City of Greater Bendigo has also received funds from the 2020/2021 Federal Blackspot Funding Program to undertake further road safety improvements on Sedgwick Road between Nankervis Road and Storys Road.
“The works will include road widening, shoulder sealing and installation of road barriers and will take place later this year.”
