Talented young artists recognised in 2021 Raw Arts Awards

Some of Greater Bendigo’s most talented young artists have been recognised at the City of Greater Bendigo’s 2021 Raw Arts Awards in a special presentation at The Capital with the Mayor Cr Jennifer Alden.

The aim is to showcase and foster the talents and artistic pursuits of young people in the region aged from 10 to 25 years of age and this year’s awards attracted 95 entries.

The winner and a highly commended entry are recognised in four categories: visual arts, literature, digital media and performing arts.

Mayor Cr Jennifer Alden said the awards and exhibition provided an opportunity for young people to profile their work, receive public and financial recognition and support further studies in their chosen arts field.

“I would like to congratulate all of the artists who took part in this year’s awards. We are so fortunate to have such talented young people living in our community,” Cr Alden said.

“We had a strong response for the awards and interestingly the literature category saw an increase in entries compared to previous years with submissions in fiction, short stories, poetry and even a screenplay.”

Winners in each category received a $1,000 cash prize and a $250 cash prize was awarded to highly commended artists. The 2021 Raw Arts Awards winners and highly commended entries are:
