Webinar to explore experience as a Councillor

The City of Greater Bendigo will host another free webinar for potential Council candidates, focusing on the experience of a Councillor.

The session will feature Cr Ashlee Fitzpatrick (Rural City of Wangaratta) and current City of Greater Bendigo Councillors Andrea Metcalf, George Flack, Susie Hawke, Rod Fyffe and former Councillor Rod Campbell.

Prospective candidates are encouraged to submit questions before the session (via the website) so that they can be addressed by panel members.

The City has been hosting a series of information sessions in the lead up to the Council elections later this year.

City Chief Executive Officer Craig Niemann said the aim of the information sessions was for people to understand what is required of a Councillor.

“We think it will be really valuable for potential candidates to hear from those who have been in the job and know what it involves,” Mr Niemann said.

“If you’re considering running for Council, I encourage you to join this session and hear directly from Councillors about what it is really like.”

When: Wednesday August 5, 6:30pm-8:30pm

Where: Webinar which can be accessed at www.bendigo.vic.gov.au/election2020. The webinar will be interactive so participants can ask questions. Registrations are encouraged.
