2018 Bendigo Easter Festival has something for everyone
The 2018 Bendigo TAFE Bendigo Easter Festival is back, better than ever, this weekend.
All the festival favourites will be featured, including:
- Bendigo Advertiser Gala Parade Sunday at 1pm
- Laser Electrical Torchlight Lantern Procession Saturday 8pm, followed by fireworks
- Rotary Art and Craft Market Friday and Sunday
- Vision Australia Easter Egg Hunt Friday and Saturday. Tickets still available
- Carnival Central in Mundy Street all weekend
- Chinese Spring Festival at 11am and Awakening of the Dragon at 2pm Saturday
In addition to these festival favourites, Kung Fu Panda, a hilarious, interactive musical show, will be happening at 11am on Saturday on the Rosalind Park main stage.
J.R. Reyne will front The Paradise Three who will take the stage at 5pm on Saturday.
Then the Australian Army’s 2nd Force Support Battalion will hold its Freedom of Entry Parade and March to mark the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War.
The event will see over 100 troops, horses and military vehicles including the Army Banner, parade at the Queen Elizabeth Oval at 5.30pm on Saturday, before marching along the parade route.
Transformers Bumblebee and Optimus Prime and some superhero friends will be on the parade route from 7pm-8pm Saturday, to help keep children entertained before the Torchlight Lantern Procession.
Manager Tourism and Major Events Terry Karamaloudis said it was set to be another well attended event.
“Last year we had more than 80,000 people come to the festival, so we hope to see similar numbers this year,” Mr Karamaloudis said
“Bendigo is a very special place to be over the Easter weekend, which is thanks to so many community groups and volunteers, so I encourage everyone to come out and enjoy what’s on offer.”
