2018 Capital and Ulumbarra theatre season launch
The Capital and Ulumbarra 2018 theatre season promises to be a year of performances for the whole community, featuring everything from circus to opera.
Featuring a range of powerful performances by some of Australia's most loved companies and artists such as Opera Australia, Circus Oz, Bell Shakespeare Company, Slava and Leonard Grigoryan and the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, residents will have access to the best the country has to offer.
Much loved classics and new favourites are reborn for children and families, with The 78-Storey Treehouse, The Magic Pudding and The Gruffalo just a few of the shows making up the First Stages program.
New in 2018 is The Engine Room Sessions, a small season of four dramas that will be performed in the Engine Room, offering a unique and intimate experience for audiences.
Capital Venues and Events Manager David Lloyd said the 2018 season was jam-packed with high quality performances for the whole community to enjoy.
"We have opera, youth theatre, circus, musical performances and dramas - everyone will find something to enjoy in this program," Mr Lloyd said.
"The official season program is not everything we will have on offer across our three theatres, just the featured performances that we have bought together for our community.
"This will be complemented by various other events and shows throughout the year.
"I encourage everyone to come and see at least one show at one of our great venues next year, and if you're keen, consider purchasing a subscription of four or more shows that gives you the opportunity to purchase before anyone else ensuring you get the best price and seats.
"We are very proud to be able to be able to offer such a diverse and high quality program of cultural experiences to our community, which is made possible with the support of Council."
