Acting Premier and Mayor unveil plans for stage one redevelopment of Spring Gully Soccer Pavilion
Greater Bendigo City Council Mayor, Peter Cox, and Acting Premier and Member for Bendigo East the Hon. Jacinta Allan have unveiled plans for the stage one redevelopment of the Spring Gully Soccer Pavilion.
Stage one includes new frontage to Spring Gully Road, female change rooms and amenities, an umpires change room, upgraded storage and accessible public amenities.
Cr Peter Cox said the new facilities have an important focus on creating a more comfortable environment for female soccer players and will greatly improve the overall soccer precinct.
“This project responds to the growth of soccer in Bendigo, particularly at Spring Gully Soccer Club where the membership has grown to 434 people,” Cr Cox said.
“The Club has a vision to upgrade the existing facilities so that the pavilion can become a flexible space to benefit current and future members and the wider community.
“This project is the next major investment by the City of Greater Bendigo in soccer, after successfully completing the redevelopment of Strathdale Park, the Epsom Regional Soccer Complex, Truscott Stadium and the Shadforth Park floodlight upgrade.
“When complete the upgraded pavilion will comply with Football Federation Victoria standards for facilities and will deliver on strategic objectives set out in the Loddon Mallee Regional Football (soccer) Development Plan, which include improving facilities, maximising participation and increasing the profile of soccer in the community.”
Construction is expected to commence in February. Stage one is estimated to cost $385,000, including a contribution of $100,000 from the State Government and $27,000 from Spring Gully Soccer Club.
