Budget 2018/2019 - Major projects come to life

Leave feedback

Most of the City of Greater Bendigo’s major projects are nearing completion and will not receive any more capital funding from the 2018/2019 Budget.

The Bendigo stadium project and the Gurri Wanyarra Wellbeing Centre are both nearing completion and will be opened later this year.

Bendigo Stadium is due to be opened in May and Gurri Wanyarra is due to be opened in August.

Stage 1 of the Garden for the Future will be opened later this month. Additional funding will be allocated in this Budget for shelters at the new garden.

Mayor Cr Margaret O’Rourke said it was fantastic to see so many great projects come to life.

“The Soldiers Memorial is looking fantastic and the first stage of the Garden for the Future is about to be open to the public.

“The Gurri Wanyarra Wellbeing Centre is progressing really well and residents will be able to enjoy the new centre later this year.

“We are also continuing work on the second stage of the Bendigo Tennis Centre redevelopment with the construction of the grandstand and resurfacing of five more tennis courts set to start soon.

“The significant investment made by the Greater Bendigo City Council over the past few years has meant that our community will very soon be benefitting from these major infrastructure projects.”
