City identifies Epsom Village Green as preferred site for new skate park

The City of Greater Bendigo has provided funding in the 2017/2018 budget for the development and design of a new skate park and play space in Epsom and has identified the Epsom Village Green on Kiln Street as the preferred location.

City of Greater Bendigo Active and Healthy Lifestyles Manager Lincoln Fitzgerald said the City wants to hear what residents think about the site and is inviting residents to have their say by attending a listening post at 5.30pm on Thursday February 15, 2018 at Epsom Village Shopping Centre.

”This is an important project for Epsom that many in the community have requested and the listening post is a good opportunity to have input into the project,” Mr Fitzgerald said.

“The Epsom Village Green site is preferred because it is in a highly visible area that provides good passive surveillance, is close to main roads and public transport and other amenities such as walking and cycling paths, shops, car parking and recreation spaces,” Mr Fitzgerald said.

“When the community has had their say about the proposed site the next steps will be to finalise the location, appoint a skate park designer and work with local school students to develop the design.

“As part of the design process we will consider the feedback we receive from the community and incorporate it into the design where possible.”

In addition to the listening post residents can also comment on the project by phoning 5434 6000, emailing [email protected] or in writing to Active and Health Lifestyles, City of Greater Bendigo, PO Box 733, Bendigo 3552.

Comments must be submitted by 5pm February 16, 2018.
