City to install more parking ticket machines with credit card facilities

The City of Greater Bendigo will install a further 42 new credit card-enabled parking ticket machines within the Bendigo CBD to make parking even more convenient.

The new machines will be located throughout the Bendigo CBD, with most streets having at least one credit card-enabled machine installed.

While the new machines will allow motorists to tap or insert their card, they will also still accept coins.

City Safe and Healthy Environments Manager Caroline Grylls said the organisation was responding to community demand for more flexible and convenient parking payment options.

“These days many people do not carry coins on them and paying for parking can be inconvenient,” Ms Grylls said.

“This new technology gives people more payment options and makes it easier for them to park when they are in and around the Bendigo CBD.”

The City is also continuing with its trial parking payment system ‘PayStay’, which allows users to pay for their parking online or via a smartphone app. The trial applies to the Market Street and Myers Street car parks.
