The City of Greater Bendigo is reviewing its Community Grants, Quick Response Grants and Partnership Grants Programs and is asking members of the community to provide their thoughts via an online survey at by January 5, 2018.

City of Greater Bendigo Health and Wellbeing Director Vicky Mason said the aim of the grants programs is to assist local community groups from across the municipality with the costs associated with providing a diverse range of initiatives that promote community engagement and social inclusion and that help to build strong and healthy communities.

“The City is currently reviewing its grants programs to ensure it is continuing to respond to community needs and goals,” Ms Mason said.

“This year the City is providing about $450,000 for its annual Community Grants Program which is currently distributed in two rounds. In the 2016/2017 financial year 197 groups received a grant while over the past 10 years more than 2000 groups have benefitted from the program. The total amount of funding allocated across the three different types of grants is approximately $850,000 annually.

“Grants are awarded in accordance with the Community Grants Policy. Volunteer Community Assessment Panels are convened to consider the applications received under each category. The Panels develop the funding recommendations for the Council to consider.

“Funding for community grants is currently allocated across six different categories - active and healthy communities, arts, community development, community events, environmental sustainability and print and digital publications.

“The City also provides Quick Response grants for urgent needs that may arise outside of the community grants funding rounds and Partnership Grants which can provide funding for up to three years to organisations who are wanting to work in partnership to progress Council goals and strategies.

“I encourage interested people to provide their feedback by completing the 10 minute, anonymous survey at By doing this you will assist the City to continue to develop its grant programs into the future.”
