Coding workshops for young people

Are you curious about advances in new technology? Want to learn how to code and create a web app?

The City of Greater Bendigo is hosting a series of three workshops for young people aged eight to 12 years to learn how to code.

The workshops will run from 4pm to 6pm on March 16, 23 and 30.

The workshops will introduce participants to Javascript and explore block-based coding which will lead to developing an app.

Community Partnerships Manager Steven Abbott said the coding workshops were part of a program of skill development that responded to young people’s priorities.

“Young people have embraced the coding workshops as a great opportunity to learn new IT skills, have fun and develop their own app,” Mr Abbott said.

“Coding is becoming an increasingly important skill requirement in many industries, so these workshops will enhance participants’ future employability.”

The three workshops cost $60 per person. For more information and to register go to
