Have your say at the Heathcote Summer Family Day
Heathcote residents can have their say on the development of the Heathcote Township Plan, see plans for the new public toilets and hear about other Council projects at the Summer Family Day on Friday February 16.
The City of Greater Bendigo is hosting a free Summer Family Day from 3.30pm to 7pm at Barrack Reserve, with a pool party (free entry), a jumping castle, face painting, animal farm and DJ music, alongside the Heathcote Lions Club Night Market which is happening at the same time.
City staff will have a stall at the event and will be displaying concept plans for the new public toilets and renewal works on the Council office building. Staff will also be on hand to discuss the Heathcote Township Plan which will help guide the future growth of the town.
Copies of the recently completed 2017-2021 Heathcote and District Community Plan will also be available at the event.
Mayor Cr Margaret O’Rourke said she encouraged Heathcote residents to come and enjoy the fun with their families.
“While you’re there, take the opportunity to chat to our friendly staff about what is happening in Heathcote at the moment and see how we are progressing on key actions that the community has identified,” Cr O’Rourke said.
“The recently completed Heathcote Community Plan is a broad and ambitious plan that sets about a diverse range of aspirations and provides strategic guidance for the community and Council for the coming years.
“The plan aligns with the Greater Bendigo Community Plan with the priorities of; Lead and govern for all, Wellbeing and fairness, Strengthening the economy, Presentation and managing growth, Environmental sustainability and Embracing our culture and heritage
“The plan was prepared by Advance Heathcote Inc. and involved wide consultation with Heathcote community groups and community members.
“It will require a lot of team work to implement and anyone interested in getting involved should contact Advance Heathcote Inc or the City.
“We will also have some concept plans for the new public toilets, which I am sure will be of interest to many residents.
“This is a free event hosted by the City with the support of the Heathcote community and a great opportunity to stay up to date with issues that affect Heathcote residents, so I encourage everyone to come along, enjoy the activities and have your say while you are there.”
There will be range of stalls promoting other community-led projects at the event.
