It's time to splash into fun!
The City of Greater Bendigo and local community organisations are again celebrating National Playgroup Week with a Splash into Fun family day at the Long Gully Recreation Reserve and Splash Park on Tuesday March 20 from 10am to 1pm.
The community event will feature a range of free children’s activities including a mobile play zone, jumping castle, animal farm, storytelling with Bendigo Goldfields Library, face painting, helium balloons, Goldie the Wonder Dog and water play at the Splash Park.
City of Greater Bendigo Community Wellbeing Manager Chris Kelly said National Playgroup Week celebrates the importance of playgroups in the community.
“Playgroups are an important community resource. They provide young children with a fun, stimulating play environment where they can enhance their language, problem-solving and social skills in preparation for preschool and primary school,” Chris Kelly said.
“They are also an important social activity for parents and carers, providing them with an opportunity to share their experiences and ideas on raising children and meeting new people.
“The Splash into Fun day is always a great day and we are looking forward to seeing lots of local families enjoying the fun and activities so grab your towel, drink bottle and hat and come along to discover what Greater Bendigo playgroups and early year’s services can offer local children and families.”
The event is presented by the City of Greater Bendigo with support from Kiwanis Club of Bendigo, Eaglehawk Secondary College, Communities for Children and Champions IGA.
