Marveloo to help make Bendigo Easter Festival even more inclusive
This year’s Hazeldene’s Bendigo Easter Festival will boast a fully accessible mobile bathroom called Marveloo which will be located in the McCrae Street carpark.
The Marveloo which caters to people with high care needs is purpose built and is the first of its kind in Australia.
Its many special features include a fully accessible toilet, overhead ceiling hoist, height adjustable adult change table, modesty curtain, additional seating, heating and cooling, a safe and clean environment, adequate space, an automatic door, access ramp and an external sun shade.
Marveloo has been designed to meet the needs of people with profound and multiple learning disabilities, their carers and the many other disabled people who are unable to use standard accessible toilets.
City of Greater Bendigo Major Events Manager Terry Karamaloudis said the Marveloo is a great addition to this year’s festival because it will allow people with high care needs to spend more time enjoying themselves without having to worry about accessing toilet facilities at the festival this Easter.
“We want the Bendigo Easter Festival to be as inclusive as possible and the Marveloo is helping us to achieve this,” Mr Karamaloudis said.
