Meet the Councillors at your local pub

Greater Bendigo City Councillors will roll out a new rural communities engagement opportunity this year and meet with residents at local pubs to share a meal.

Councillors will kick off the engagement series with dinner at the Marong Family Hotel on Thursday April 26 from 6pm-8pm.

Mayor Cr Margaret O’Rourke said the dinners would be treated similarly to listening posts.

“All councillors will be invited to attend and it will be a good way for residents to meet councillors other than those representing their ward,” Cr O’Rourke said.

“This is an informal opportunity for residents and councillors to share a meal together and discuss important local issues. There will be no agenda and people are welcome to come and go as they please.

“Councillors want to be accessible to residents and make it easy for them to meet up in their communities and at times that suit them, so we look forward to residents joining us for dinner as we make our way around to Greater Bendigo’s various small towns.”

The dinners are expected to take place every few months. Councillors and residents are to pay for their own meals and drinks.

Residents wanting to come along to the Marong Family Hotel, please phone Councillor Support Officer Nicole Dunstone on 5434 6102 to RSVP. A table will be reserved to ensure the group can be properly accommodated.
