Seniors Festival program available now
The program for the 2018 Bendigo Victorian Seniors Festival which runs from October 7 to 14 is now available.
City of Greater Bendigo Health and Wellbeing Director Vicky Mason said packed full of events, this year’s program has something for everyone.
“The Bendigo Seniors Festival encourages seniors to participate in a range of activities and events designed to entertain, inform and celebrate their role in the community,” Ms Mason said.
“With many events either free or low cost it’s a great time to venture out and try something new.”
Highlights of the program include the Bobby Darin Tribute Show opening event at the Capital Theatre on Monday October 8. In this show crooner Paul Hogan sings some of Darin’s classic hits including Dream Lover, Mack the Knife, Beyond the Sea, Splish Splash and more. It’s not to be missed by people who are passionate about music from the 50’s and 60’s.
Other events include tours of the Great Stupa of Universal Compassion and Central Deborah Gold Mine, a Scottish themed variety concert at Kangaroo Flat Uniting Church, a print making workshop at the Bendigo Art Gallery, nature walk and talk at No 7 Park, dance classes, come and try days and much, much more.
Regional bus services and V/Line bus and train services will offer free public transport for Victorian Seniors Card holders from Sunday October 7 to Sunday October 14.
During the festival there will be also be free hearing checks for seniors.
Copies of the program are available from City of Greater Bendigo offices in Lyttleton Terrace and Heathcote, the Bendigo Visitor Information Centre, libraries, local seniors’ clubs and some supermarkets, health clinics and Neighbourhood Houses.
