The Bendigo Visitor Centre will recognise the dedication of its outstanding volunteer team for National Volunteer Week.

A number of volunteers will receive badges in recognition of significant years of service.

  • 16 volunteers will receive 5 years of service badges
  • Five volunteers will receive 10 years of service badges
  • Six volunteers will receive 15 years of service badges
  • Nine volunteers will receive certificates for 18 and 21 years of service

Tourism and Major Events Unit Manager Terry Karamaloudis said volunteers were critical to Greater Bendigo’s high quality visitor services.

“The service provided by the Bendigo Visitor Centre volunteers is a testament to how much volunteers enjoy their various roles and the pleasure that comes from meeting new people and encouraging positive experiences across Bendigo,” Mr Karamaloudis said.

“The Bendigo Visitor Centre has 85 active volunteers with a combined total of 666 years of service.

“The centre is open seven days per week, 364 days of the year, only closing on Christmas Day.

“Volunteer support is vital to ensure we offer the best possible service to visitors and support our tourism members and local businesses.”
