Write on the Fringe back in 2018
Mayor Cr Margaret O’Rourke will officially launch the 2018 Write on the Fringe Festival and open the Co.lab exhibition this week.
Now in its fifth year, Write on the Fringe Festival runs from August 3 to 11 and is an accompaniment to the Bendigo Writers Festival. The festival features workshops, speakers and performance, and artistic and literary installations, with most events happening at the Bendigo Library.
The Co.Lab exhibition is now in its eighth year and will feature 27 teams of writers and artists working in collaboration.
Saturday August 11 is dedicated to family activities, with giant knitting, book-making and a special performance for families at 10.30am.
There will be plenty of activities to keep kids entertained such as badge-making, library bag making and face-painting.
This year’s festival will feature a song-writing workshop with Bec Sandridge, a workshop and launch of Leave Taking, a new novel about belonging, loss and love from celebrated local children's author Lorraine Marwood and a range of workshops for writers and bloggers.
Outside the library is the launch event for ‘Books We Love’, an exhibition of artwork by local primary school students based on their favourite books and the ‘Write Unto Art' Art Trail, an art trail extending from Bendigo to Heathcote.
Write on the Fringe is an initiative of the City of Greater Bendigo, Goldfields Library Corporation and BendArts.
