YO Arts - creating opportunity for young artists
The City of Greater Bendigo is looking for young local artists to take part in the annual YO Arts - Young Artists Project.
Through this initiative 10 young artists from Greater Bendigo will gain an opportunity to hone their skills, learn from professional artists and exhibit their work publicly.
The City’s Inclusive Communities Coordinator David Williamson said this is an exciting opportunity for young artists to explore Bendigo’s art galleries, meet with artists and participate in hands on workshops by professional artists during the July school holidays.
“The successful applicants will be provided with mentoring to complete a piece of artwork which will be exhibited in the YO Bendigo Youth Centre at 45 Mundy Street,” Mr Williamson said.
“Each artist will be provided with materials and will be paid $200 for their commissioned piece.
“It’s an exciting opportunity for young artists to exhibit their work and receive public recognition for their skills and creativity.”
YO Arts is open to artists aged between 15 and 25 years and is designed to encourage and support emerging local talent.”
YO Arts is in line with the City’s Youth Strategy goals to provide innovative opportunities for young people to develop new skills by conducting creative arts workshops and life skills training.
Applicants must submit an online expression of interest form and provide two pictures of work produced in the past 12 months.
Applications close June 25, 2018.
