Audit and Risk Committee

As required by the Local Government Act 2020, the City have an Audit and Risk Committee, who meet a minimum of 4 times per year.  The Audit and Risk Committee is an advisory committee formally appointed by Council and is responsible to the Council. It plays an important role in providing oversight of the City of Greater Bendigo’s financial and performance reporting, risk management, compliance with legislation and internal and external audit functions. The terms of reference of this committee are outlined in the City of Greater Bendigo’s Audit and Risk Committee Charter.  

Membership

Committee membership comprises seven members being the Mayor, two other Councillors, plus four independent members, one of whom is appointed by Council as the Chair of the Committee. 

 External members of the committee must collectively have experience in financial and risk management and experience in public sector management.  Other attendees at the meetings include the CEO, Director Corporate Performance, Manager Financial Strategy, Manager Governance, Governance Unit Representatives, the City’s internal and external auditors as well as other Council Officers by request.
