Council Plan

n this final year of the Council term Council is anticipating completion of the major priorities it set at the start of the term. This 2016-2017 update of the Council Plan outlines expected completion of a number of previously agreed priorities and works, including essential maintenance of our iconic buildings and key infrastructure. This year a wide variety of strategic planning activities will also be completed which honours Council’s undertaking to plan effectively for the anticipated growth of Greater Bendigo. They will set the guidelines and frameworks that will guide future developments and will help to ensure Greater Bendigo continues to be a successful, attractive and welcoming place for the long term.


Completed strategies, including Connecting Greater Bendigo: the Integrated Transport and Land Use Strategy (ITLUS), the Greater Bendigo Residential Strategy and the Economic Development Strategy provide the frameworks to guide future planning directions and planning decisions that foster successful growth, enable healthier living and at the same time safeguard the unique assets and character of Greater Bendigo. Preparation of the new Public Space Strategy is progressing as anticipated and this Council Plan outlines a significant number of other statutory processes that will be undertaken during the 2016-2017 to ensure the necessary infrastructure is in place.


Have your say on the proposed Council Plan 2016/2017

Written submissions to the proposed Budget which are received by the City of Greater Bendigo on or before Saturday June 4, 2016 will be considered. Any person who has made a written submission and requested to be heard may present in person, or by a person acting on their behalf, to Council on Tuesday June 7, 2016 at the Council Offices, Lyttleton Terrace, Bendigo, from 5:30pm. Members of the public are welcome to attend the hearing of submissions.
