The new $4.6 million Garden for the Future at Bendigo Botanic Gardens White Hills was officially opened by Greater Bendigo Mayor Cr Margaret O’Rourke and the Hon Jacinta Allan MP on Sunday April 22 2018 at a free community event attended by approximately 2000 people. The Grand Opening featured local bands, food trucks, displays, garden tours and kids activities.

Local bands included Bill Barber, Erica Hawkey Band, Sherri Parry and the Funk Junkies. Kids entertainment included stilt walkers, face painting, balloon twisting and an Australian native wildlife display.

The City of Greater Bendigo hopes the community enjoys the first stage of the expansion of the gardens and we all look forward to seeing further developments as the garden evolves into the future.
