Renewing your pet registration

Animal registrations must be renewed by April 10 every year. We send out a renewal notice to pet owners in March each year. Your animal is not registered until payment is received.

Registering your cat or dog for the first time

All dogs and cats over the age of three months must be registered with Council and microchipped.

Registration must be renewed each year. The registration year is April 10 to April 9 the following year.

To register your cat or dog, please complete the online animal registration form or alternatively download and complete the 2023-2024 Animal Registration Form and choose the best  method of payment that suits you.  These can be found on the back of the registration form.

When registering your cat or dog for the first time please include:

  • Completed registration form
  • Microchip number (with documented proof)
  • Concession card (if applicable)
  • Documents to prove a discounted rate can be claimed (if applicable - for example, proof of desexing)

Registered pets get a lifetime tag that must be attached to their collar.

Receive your animal’s registration renewal electronically

If you would like to receive your dog or cat’s registration renewal notice electronically, you can choose to sign up via eNotices or BPAY View. 

eNotices

eNotices enables pet owners to receive their pet’s registration renewal notice via email. You will need to register online to receive your registration renewal notice in this manner. For further information and to register visit: eNotices

BPAY View

BPAY View is a feature most online bank accounts will have. Pet owners can apply through their bank account to receive their pet’s registration renewal notice via their online bank account. The notice can then be paid from the online bank account utilising BPAY. Further information can be found at: BPAY View

 

Change of ownership for animal registration

To transfer ownership of an animal’s registration:

 

Replacing a lost tag

If you lose the tag, contact Customer Service or request a replacement registration tag for a dog or cat.

 

Animal keeping permit

If you have more than two cats or two dogs, you may require a special permit. Find out about keeping animals
