To obtain building related documents of a property such as permits, plans or certification documents you will need to apply for a "Building File Search".

When completing this form, please provide as much information as you can and if filling in the hard copy form please return it to us via email to [email protected] Alternatively you are welcome to come to our Hopetoun Street office between 8.30am and 5pm on weekdays to complete and submit your form, or you may post it to PO Box 733 Bendigo 3552.

Payment options

Payment of the File Search Fee can be made in person via cash, EFTPOS, credit card or cheque at reception at our Hopetoun Street office, or via credit card through our website, once you have received an invoice containing your individual payment reference number.

Please note, File Search will not commence until payment of the application fee is made.

Not the owner?

If you are not the owner of the property, your application must include a letter of consent from the current owner(s) authorising the applicant to inspect what is in effect the owner’s documents.

Copies and delivery

If the documents requested are found, arrangements can be made to either:

  • have copies of the documents emailed or mailed to you*; or
  • view the documents in person at Hopetoun Street and have photocopies made where required*

*Please note hard copies attract a photocopy fee, as outlined on the second page of the hard copy application form.
