Community Volunteering
Volunteering in Greater Bendigo
Volunteering is a crucial aspect of our community and in Greater Bendigo over 23% of people volunteer. Volunteering contributes to the community’s social fabric though social connection, participation, and by providing much need community services. It also improves the health and wellbeing of our community.
To ensure a culture of volunteering continues to grow in Greater Bendigo, the City is supporting volunteering through its Community Volunteering Strategy 2019-2023.
National Volunteer Week
To promote National Volunteer Week, The City of Greater Bendigo in partnership with young people from the YO Bendigo Volunteer Media Program has produced a short video to acknowledge and thank those who volunteer in Greater Bendigo.
Introduced by the Mayor Cr Jennifer Alden, both volunteer leaders and their volunteers speak to the three themes of this year’s National Volunteer Week, Recognise, Reconnect and Reimagine.
Please watch the National Volunteer Week video and join us in acknowledging and celebrating the importance of volunteering and what it means for the Greater Bendigo region.
