The Environmental Health and Local Laws unit protects and improves public health and community safety. Read our local laws.
We inspect, monitor, educate and regulate to monitor our facilities and immediate environment and make Bendigo a great place to live.
We can help you to negotiate unreasonable noise in your neighbourhood and issue permits for the septic tank and waste water systems. We maintain our air quality by educating and monitoring the effects of residential heating and smoke from wood heaters.
We enforce guidelines for living in temporary accommodation on building sites, monitor lakes and waterways for blue-green algae and control pests on Council land.
We conduct routine inspections of all public pools, spas and associated facilities across the municipality to check water quality and provide for the safe disposal of syringes at Sharpsafe collection and disposal centres.
