Information for community groups

How to register your temporary or mobile food premises

Business operators or community groups can apply to register their temporary or mobile food premises at Streatrader, a website developed by the Department of Health and Human Services.

You lodge your application via Streatrader. On completion the Streatrader system will lodge it automatically to your principal (registering) council for review and approval.

During this time you may receive a phone call from council to discuss your application. Once council is satisfied with your application (and payment made if applicable) they will accept it online and you will receive an email notifying you of your successful application. Once council has approved your registration, you can trade anywhere in Victoria without having to register with another council.

Renewing your Streatrader registration

Your Food Act registration expires on 30 June of each year.

In May, Streatrader will send your streatrader account notification to "renew" your registration. You will also receive renewal paperwork and invoice from your council.

Trading in Victoria

Once you are registered and have a current approved certificate, you will need to notify the relevant council of your intention to trade at a local event or market . To do this, go to your Streatrader account and submit a  Statement of Trade (SOT) , which will ask when an d where you will be trading . Your Statement of Trade is then sent to the relevant council to notify them of your activities in the area.

Please note: If you do not have an approved SOT at the time of your event, you may be issued with a penalty infringement notice and/or not permitted to attend event.
