Landfill and Transfer Stations
Our landfill (or tip) and transfer stations are places where you can drop off waste that cannot be disposed of in your general waste, recycling or organics bins.
Transfer stations sort and collect as much recyclable material as possible.
Dropping off your load
You can save yourself time and effort at drop-off by sorting your load at home. Keep the same materials together in piles. Keep all recyclables to the top of the load and green waste and other waste separated and at the bottom of the load. Remember to cover your load.
We run one local landfill – Eaglehawk. There are currently three supervised transfer stations in the municipality: Heathcote, Strathfieldsaye and Goornong.
Most recyclables are received at no cost.
Facility closures
While we endeavour to maintain our opening hours to provide a service to City of Greater Bendigo residents, in some instances weather conditions may force us to close one or multiple sites.
The weather conditions include extreme heat, high winds (consistent), high gusts of wind and extreme wet weather. Closure could be initiated by one or a combination of the listed weather conditions. These weather conditions not only affect access to the sites but also pose a health risk to both users of the sites and staff.
Residents are advised to check weather conditions prior to transporting waste and recycling to any of our facilities.
